Coast Guard Station Venice, La., is one of two small boat stations in the state of Louisiana.  Situated a few miles north of Southwest Pass, La., at the mouth of the Mississippi River, the unit's primary missions are search and rescue, fisheries and maritime law enforcement.  The station has a crew complement of 33 active duty and four reserve personnel.  Their assets include two 41-foot utility boats, and two 25-foot Defender Class safe boats which they use to patrol more than 5,000 square miles of Louisiana coastline including parts of the Mississippi River and the Intracoastal Waterway.
